Breath
Breath
Scent (Unseen Work), 2026
The Opening — St Paul’s Church, Auckland
Breath is a subtle ambient scent introduced into the space as atmosphere rather than object. It is not applied to surfaces or located at a single point, but encountered indirectly — intermittently diffused, elusive, and difficult to grasp.
Composed of wood, mineral air, and earth notes, the work functions as an unseen layer within the installation. It invites an embodied awareness of presence — something sensed rather than seen.
Drawing on the Christian understanding of God as Spirit, Breath reflects a presence that is relational, interior, and not held or contained. It is experienced not as fragrance, but as atmosphere: a quiet nearness that emerges through attention.
